Marc Molins and Laia Tejada, lawyers of Molins&Parés, are consulted by the newspaper Ara about the inherent evidentiary difficulties in the criminal proceedings arising from the statements of the former National Police commissioner José Manuel Villarejo.
Despite the numerous attempts by those affected to have the courts investigate and prosecute those responsible for Operation Catalonia, no lawsuit related to the brutal war against sovereignty has been successful. The ex-commissioner of the National Police José Manuel Villarejo, the ex-minister of the Interior under Mariano Rajoy, Jorge Fernández Díaz, his ex-number two, Francisco Martínez, or the ex-leader of the Catalan PP, Alícia Sánchez Camacho, are some of the people named by the plaintiffs. The former president of FC Barcelona Sandro Rosell has been the only one who has managed to get a Madrid court to open an investigation and to get Villarejo and several police commanders to testify as investigators, but the case has had no further progress.
